compliance policy summary

Providers using Cornerstone for ambulance billing and revenue recovery are classified as “healthcare suppliers” and fall under HIPAA privacy regulations.

Compliance with HIPAA Regulations

Affecting ambulance billing in a significant way, through federal insurance program regulation, reimbursement guidelines and fee schedule placement, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) play an important role in shaping industry guidelines.  Indeed, most commercial carriers have or are in the process of assuming many of the same CMS protocols.

Cornerstone Adminisystems confirms that it is in full compliance with each HIPAA regulation as currently provided by CMS, including the provision of all physical, administrative and technical safeguards necessary to ensure the present and future security and confidentiality of PHI.

Cornerstone Compliance Policy

To best address the regulatory concerns related to compliance, Cornerstone has created a Cornerstone Compliance Policy, maintained, enforced, and amended when needed by a designated Compliance Officer.

Reportable monthly to the Cornerstone Compliance Committee (CCC), the Compliance Officer conducts weekly procedural reviews, monitors internal compliance activities, develops and executes as-needed training modules, and alerts Client Services to any potential compliance issues related to a client organization.
