Once all information sets are complete and verified, a claim will be created.  Based largely on the events written into the narrative, a Cornerstone billing specialist will utilize the RescueNet Billing software to apply the appropriate HCPCS codes and ICD-9 modifiers.

HCPCS refers to the type of call (BLS, ALS 1, ALS 2) and ICD-9 refers to medical conditions such as “stroke,” “cardiac arrest,” or “leg wound.”  Data entry is reviewed and individually verified, allowing RescueNet Billing to then format the account for either electronic or paper submission to the appropriate insurance carrier or patient.
